Breakfast Nook

We built this breakfast nook for a home in Bryn Mawr. It fits into the corner while the back of one bench creates a window well between the breakfast nook and the window. Comfortable cushions were added to the nook after we took the photos. The bench seats lift up to provide ample storage and have slow closing friction hinges to protect wayward fingers. We also created removable grilles to provide access to small toe kick heaters that are under the seating area. Finally, we finished the unit with a pigmented conversion varnish and glaze to match the preexisting kitchen cabinets.
